Roses are Tasty

I wanted today to talk about something else than my trip to DC a couple of weeks ago, which by the way I'm not done yet. Today I got lots of praise on a fantastic presentation I made in front of 30 people about Persian Cuisine. It was extremely validating given the tough week I'd have so far.

Roses in Pacific Palisades, California

For the presentation, I served attendees a desert combo of Rose Water and Saffron Ice Cream with Pistachios and Baklava. All I can say is that it was delicious and everyone was silent while eating it, which is somthing people say it's a good sign.

Roasting pistachios and saffron mixture

Preparing filo dough for Baklava
Preparing honey syrup for the Baklava and garnish to serve the ice cream

Pouring mixture on ice cream maker

Baklava ready to go into the oven

Unfortunately, during the presentation things got a bit crazy and was not able to take pictures of how I served  the ice cream. The way I did it was with 2 scoops of ice cream over powdered pistachios with the baklava on top and the syrup drizzled over with one rose petal as garnish.

On a different note, I wanted to say that I'm working on a couple of interesting giveaways to celebrate the 100 followers even though I know I reached that great milestone weeks ago. Also, I wanted to request for to you to talk about this blog to your friends and readers because the more people that reads this blog the better the prizes get and the better the content... so if you like it please share the joy!

Have a lovely day!

Your job looks immensely interesting, yet demanding and stressful. I would love to learn more about what you do. I like reading about other people's jobs.

    Congratulations on your milestone!

  8. wow that sounds delicious! I haven't had a really good baklava since my grandma used to make it. My dad and I order it whenever we see it on a menu and it just isn't the same, but that might just be the nostalgia talking. I wish I had her recipe, although wrestling with filo dough scares me considerably.
