Seaside Memories

Today I'm driving back to the beach to check out the project I've been working on the past couple of months. It's moving forward quite fast and will be seeing some of the results this week... Wow! Every time I make the long drive there I cannot help but think of all the times I used to make the same trip but for vacation.

I remember countless hours spent under the sun trying to achieve that perfect golden caramel color while listening to the breaking of the waves.

Of course, swimming in the ocean was never to be missed especially if the water was cool and refreshing, or the prefect place to be while watching the sun go down.

And no doubt, there has never been anything better than to watch the sunset with friends and maybe a significant other. Tell me, what do you love the most about going to the beach on vacation?

Have a lovely and sunny day!

Questions Mark: Comedy TV

I watched my first live Saturday Night Live show when I was like 14 and the host that night was Fred Savage from the Wonder Years, a show I used to love. I remember my brother laughing at every joke that of course I couldn't fully understand but I did recognize there was genius behind it.

Since then, I became a big fan of the show, found the humor behind all the jokes and understand the importance this show has in pop culture... You know you've made it when you are parodied on SNL!

I have always wanted to be part of the audience and see how they tape each show. I want to see how is it that they do it and not burst out laughing when things just get too funny to handle... Well, sometimes they do laugh.

Most of all, I would love to host the show... yeas, I'd love to! I heard the hosts have a blast when they do it, which is not only the night of the show but they spend the whole week working on it. I'd love to write my monologue, make fun of current topics, dress up in silly costumes and work with such talented people.

So, if you could be on a comedy TV show, any show... which one would it be? Who's role would you play?

Have a fun week!!!

Question Mark: Phobias

As I pack see all the things I need to pack on my suitcase I remember to check my seat and make sure I´m not on a window seat... on any of my flights! For somreone who likes to travel as much as I do it's quite ironic I have a terrible fear of heights.

I never go beyond the 30th floor on any building and most definitely stay away from balconies, which is another funny thing about someone who likes to live in apartment buidlings.

I have always wanted to be one of those crazy extreme sports people who rock climbs, bungee jumps y sky dives but there's no way you'll ever find me doing anything like that... I'm staying safe inside!!!

So tell me... do you have any phobias? Is it to spiders? Vertigo? and... Have you conquered it?

Have a great week!!!

Question Mark: Where to Go?

Many people have asked me where I'm going after I leave the US and even though I have a destination for the moment I still feel it is not where I'm going to plant my roots.

I haven't traveled as much as I wanted to but there have been places that when I get there I feel I'm home. I think it's s bit redundant that I say I feel very much at home when I'm in NY, and that is one of the reasons why every chance I have I'm on a plane to go there, visit my friends, and absorb the energy flowing through the whole city.

Another city where I felt I could live without a problem was Milan. I loved the vibe of the city that felt sort of like NY but with that fun flair Italians have. I loved walking around the narrow streets, the modern stores inside old buildings, the unique art, the fashion, and no doubt the amazing food make this city a great place I'd like to go and spend some time at.

I was very lucky to call LA my home for a while. Many people ask me what I loved so much about it and my answer is always the same: 78F weather, blue skies, sunny, and very friendly people. I loved how easy it was for me to go to the mountain or the beach in a very short time, the food was exotic and fresh, it never got too cold or too hot, and I would move back there without hesitation.

Of course, now that I'm moving many friends and family members have cast their votes on where they think I would love to live in. The places that I hear the most are: London, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Lima, Santiago, Cape Town and Stockholm. The reasons are: modern cities, art and design, culture, gastronomy, career, nice people, and cute boys.

So, if you had no restrictions at all and could pack your bags and move anywhere in the world, where would you move?

Have a great day and hope we all end up
where we want to be sooner rather than later!

Question Mark: Alternate Careers

Last week for me was one of those when you are questioned time and time again where your career is going and where do you see yourself in 5 years... We all have several interests and many times we pursue them beyond our occupations and sometimes they take us on to a whole new path.

At some point during those long hours of whatever job we do, we have all wondered if those jobs we think as being so cool are really all they seem to be... I do have to say that being an interior designer has always been fun but we spend more time managing our projects that we do selecting fabrics or pretty things.

So, if you had a second chance to pursue a different career, which one would it be?

I would like to be a ballerina or a surfer girl!

Have a great week... we are back to regular blogging schedule over here!

Question Mark: On Date Night

The other day my friend J {she will be reading this!} called me and asked me what would be a great date night place to go to with this new guy she's dating who's actually from out of town and will be visiting her in the next couple of weeks.

I've had some great date nights in my life but the ones that resonates the most in my mind {even though the guy was a $%^#$%} was one where we went to have dinner at the restaurant of this hotel that is located on a small residential island here in Miami.

The restaurant was on the terrace by the water so you can see the city lit up at night and reflected on the bay. Dinner was perfect having top quality sushi and lychee martinis, the night was clear and the weather was one of those perfect cool and dry nights that make you happy you live here.

My date was very romantic and even included a walk around the island {don't get me wrong you can do it in like 20 minutes} sitting on a bench overlooking the city on the other side of the bay.

So, if you were me, what would you recommend my friend to do on her first date night with a guy she really likes and who's visiting from out of town? Dinner? Movies? Picnic?

Have a great day and never stop daydreaming!

Elevators

Over the past few days I've been throwing away old magazines to make room for those arriving in 2012. As I went through the different places where I store them I found this booklet from a previous job I had where the company asked its top creative minds a number of questions and before I knew it I had spent a good 30 minutes laughing at people's responses.

The question I like the most was "If you were to get stuck in an elevator, who would you like to be in there with you?" The responses were varied but many of them named their family members and other their favorite artists and even politicians... but the best ones were on the lines of: "a claustrophob, so I can monitor the hysteria process", "why do I have to get stuck in an elevator?", "an elevator technician so I can get out of there as fast as I can", and finally a friend of mine said "George Clooney, se wa can talk about Como, wine and movies" and 2 weeks later she saw him at an airport!

So in the spirit of fun and getting ready for the weekend "If you got stuck in an elevator, who would you like to be in it?"... My pics today would be the people I've been wanting to work with so I can get that much desired job once and for all!

Have a great day and be careful... ha!
