Life at Sea

I've never been much of a "marine" person besides the sailor pants for the summer and a few navy-and-white stripes tops... but going sailing in Rhode Island really changed my mind about sailing and boats.

Sailing in Rhode Island is part of their way of life and every every child learn how to sail from the time they are very young. I found this to be such a great thing and loved all my friends stories about how they learned and that they always think that nobody can do it better than they call... especially the men!!!

One of my favorite things was to turn of the engine and letting the wind fill up the sails and slide on the water all over the bay. It's a very liberating experience to feel the wind, the water splashing and the speed the boat picks up.

After I got back to Miami I decided to look for sailing classes but somehow the craziness of days have not allowed me to do it but still have that desire to join those that love pulling lines to tighten the sail and wear boat shoes... ha!

Have a great day and take some time to relax... at least for me (tough week ahead)!!!

  2. This is sooo beautiful! I can just envision how peaceful it must have been to be out there in the middle of all that water. I guess since I grew up on an island, I'll always love anything to do with water :)

  9. I have always wanted to go sailing. My husband is very outdoorsy and he did this a lot when he was in South Africa, I get so jealous when he tells me about it.

  10. I LOVE sailing. So much. Except when the sailors make the boats rails touch the water - I'm not cool with that!

  21. Oh, I absolutely love to sail! When I was younger, my parents bought a little dingy I named Buttercup-luckily the boat was impossible to sink, because we flipped it more than once in learning, but there was nothing better than doing it by yourself! Now when we're out on the big boats, I feel completely at ease!

  29. I'm not really an outdoorsy person, at all. City boy through and through but I did go up to Wisconsin and did some Lake Michigany stuff and it was a blast so maybe I'm warming to the idea.

  32. I've always thought it would be wonderful to know how to sail, but I know it's not that easy to learn. My friend has taken some classes because her husband sails a lot. I think I'll just be a passenger instead :) Gorgeous photos!
