An Apple A Day

Who doesn't love biting into a crunchy and juicy apple on a hot summer day? We all do! Apples are refreshing, sweet or tangy and they are little containers of health for all of those who enjoy them.

Apples are a low calorie snack {about 95 calories for a medium one}, fat free, they are packed with soluble fiber and vitamin C {perfect for your immune system}, and having just 1 apple means you are taking about 15% of your daily fruit portions.

Apples are included in every single healthy diet because they help on keeping you satisfied as they are very filling. They are also credited to be great in helping you maintain healthy cholesterol levels as they contain high levels of pectins and antioxidants.

This amazing fruit is a great aid in regulating blood sugar because they help in the digestion of carbohydrates that are later converted into sugar.

The best way to consume apples is fresh, in natural juices or smoothies that you take full advantage of all the amazing nutrients that they contain and you enjoy of their original flavor {please stay away from artificial apple flavor juices!}

Have a healthy day!

  5. I love apples! I think I like dried apples the best though. Subway has these new bags of dried apple slices, and they're pretty good.

    We love them, salads, desserts, and au natural.
    A local place does a bruschetta with ricotta, apples and pistachios - love it!

  8. Guilty confession - I don't like eating apples. They hurt my teeth, particularly biting into a whole one! Is this just a me thing? But I really like apple juice.

  10. I've had an apple almost everyday since high school. It sounds crazy, but when I miss a day I find myself drinking more coffee. Don't really know why, but there you have it.

  19. There are literally 5 apple orchards within a mile of me so I eat my fair share. :) My favorite thing though is unpasteurized apple cider. I tastes so different than the grocery store kind so it's the only kind I have now {and I've been drinking it since I was a baby with no problems so I'll keep it up!}
