While I was writing yesterday's post I could not help but wonder how much I'd love to take a vacation to a paradise destination, and all your comments about your Amalfi Coast vacations got me thinking of my dream to visit Positano one day.
This out of the ordinary village that sits in the enclave formed by the Monti Lattari and the coast made up of silvery grey sand beaches. The town traces it's origins back to the Romans who built ruins that can still be visited today near the Church dell'Asunta.
After many ups and downs through out the ages, Positano finally came out of obscurity in 1953 when John Steinbeck explored the town for an article for Haper's Bazaar: "Positano bites deep," Steinbeck wrote. "It is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you've gone."
Have a great day!
