The Foundation

I love shoes... all of them, no matter if they are flip flop or winter boots and I'm planning to wear them for a long time.

As much as I love my high heels I know they are not always good to me. The pain you feel after many hours of wearing them or by wearing those that are just too high is the most simple and clear sign that it's time to take them off.

Women who wear high heels for long periods of time during the week have shown that the way they walk changes not only while wearing the shoes but also barefoot because of the strain they put in they muscles of their calves which in time might cause muscle injuries.

Fortunately, you don't have to give up on your shoes at all... just ease on using them all the time. No doubt the higher they are the worst they are not just for your legs but also for your back and even your heart {just like a really bad boy!}.

If you have to walk long distances opt for a cute pair of flats that compliment your outfit and then replace them with your stylish heels. Take the heels off again when you're sitting at your desk to allow your foot to get back to its natural form and then put them back on to leave the office and go to happy hour.

Because we all want to look our best, please make sure the height of your heels is right for you, the sole of the shoe is flexible enough to move as you walk and that you walk around your house while wearing them... You don't want to look like those girls who look like parrots in skates!

Have a lovely and pain free day!

  2. Fantastic post! The sight of Victoria Beckham in skyscraper heels keep running through my brain - she could def read this! My arches once collapsed when I wore flip flops/flat sandals for 3 months plus and that had to be one of the most painful moments ever - good support of the arches is good for you too!

  3. So true! High heels are actually not good for dancers because they force a tilted pelvis. Totally messes with your alignment. But they are oh so fabulous.

  4. Love this post! Heels and flats are the best, I always try to mix them up or take some with me just in case my feet start to wine :)

  10. This is such a great post. I wear heels a fair bit but because I love walking everywhere I always wear a pair of flats (I used to think of this as 'cheating' - but not only is it good for you but it's good for your shoes/heels!) I mix it up a lot more now, though I've always steered clear of flip flops ;)

  13. This post is quite timely for me- went to Vegas this weekend for a quick getaway, and managed to rub two huge blisters on the backs of my heels from all the airport-walking (and mall-walking, and concert-jumping) I did! Now I'm relegated to flats sans backs to let 'em heal up before my wedding this weekend! Fingers crossed. :)

  21. I tend to keep my shoes for a loooong time, so I think of it more as an investment! That is what I tell myself, anyway.

  23. I actually wear more heels now than I did when I was younger...I used to feel very insecure of my hight (i'm 5"8 ) and didnt want to add the extra 4 inches, towering over boys. Now, I can appreciate those extra inches, they make me feel more powerful!

  34. I agree. I love flats...I wish they made more cute ones sometimes that I can wear :)) I like straps on my shoes as they tend to fall off and I can't have that chasing my children. xx

  35. I agree, the key is changing the height of the shoes throughout the day. Personally, I've always gotten heel pain in flats (even with padding)! But it feels great to alternate heels and flats every few hours. My favorite level is a small heel which eases the pressure and balances it with the ball of my foot. -- J xx
