Question Mark: Essentials

One of the questions I always ask people participating on the PM Masters segment is "When you travel which are the essential items you take with you?" Due to heightened travel restrictions and extra fees mine have changed dramatically over the past couple of years.

Mine are as follows: Camera, weather appropriate shoes which always include a pair of walking along with a dress pair, perfume, make-up bag with multipurpose shades and colors, mani and pedi kit that is airport security friendly, iPad with all its add-ons, hand sanitizer, and a few basic pieces of clothing as I always expect to find something amazing on a quick shopping trip.

Toiletries have becomes sort of replaceable not because I wanted but because I had to. Unless you wear a very expensive face cream or something like it chances are you will be able to find what you need in this category at your destination.

I mentioned an airport friendly mani and pedi kit which usually includes cardboard nail files, a rubber handle clipper or anything that doesn't look menacing, small remover and my nail polish {of course the one by my fabulous friend Mary Jo Matsumoto... check out her new collection HERE}.

So, my question to you is... When you pack, what are those things you HAVE to take with you no matter what? What are your travel essentials?

Have a great day!

  2. Travel essentials? Lip balm, scarf and journal for SURE. And a few protein bars because you never know when you'll be eating next :)

  3. OK, I haven't flown since the restrictions really tightened up AND the increased luggage fees. I would try to pack light. In the car I pack much more than when flying, but in general: A simplified make-up bag, hair ties, my camera (always), and a workable wardrobe depending on reason for travel and location. Add in 3 pair of shoes (casual, dress, walking), perfume, and jewelry. Phone, ipad. I think that's the basics. Though it seems like more when we are loading it up! oops!

  4. I love your essentials list. For me it's all about comfort, so I pack just a few key items that I know I can pair up together. I usually have two or three pairs of shoes...always comfy and as you I pack only my essential toiletries, the rest I buy when I get to my destination. Muah, sweetie.

  7. A scarf to keep warm on the plane (or to use as a blanket), my Kindle, and I always keep my makeup bag in my carryon. I'm scared to lose it!

  8. I always take fresh socks so I can take off my sandals and not have bare (and cold) feet, a pashmina, a soft blanket, a big bag of snacks (fruits, vegetables, wasabi edamame, nuts, gum, and hard candy), hand sanitizer, clorox wet wipes (I used to be a flight attendant, I know how germy airplanes really are :/), book, magazine, work, face and body lotion (and if it's an overnight, makeup removing wipes), makeup bag, cell phone... I think that's pretty much it! I sound like such a high maintenance flyer! ha!

  9. Your essential list and mine are the same. I really try and keep everything to a minimum including travel size formulas of all my beauty products and makeup. Comfortable shoes (preferably ones that can go with more than one outfit to save space) are a must and non-bulky clothing. Mary Jo creates the most fabulous colors. Nice mention!

  10. I always bring a scarf and socks for the plane, lip balm and aquaphor bc planes are so drying. Oh and tons of magazines and books. Other than that, I'm a terrible packer. I always bring the wrong things for my trip. Xo

  15. I love these photos! I travel light so other than the obvious comfortable threads my must-haves include allergy medicine, sanitizer, scarf, chap stick, mints, music, and excellent headphones (noise cancelling of course)!
