Hope

Today's my nephew's birthday and he turns 6. He's a great kid with a big smile, big brown eyes and golden tanned skin. I saw him yesterday after a week of him being out of town and hugged him a little tighter as I was so happy to see him.

Like so many of you, I am heart broken from the evens from last week in Connecticut. Children are so precious and innocent that I cannot help but wonder what can be done to keep them safe from any harm.

In time of unbelievable violence it's innevitable for people to point the fingers at what we could've done to prevent such tragedy like this one and all of the ones that have happened before. Openness, honesty and true commitment from everyone are the ingredients missing from us solving what's really troubling society.

If any memebr of your family or friend has been affected by this tragedy, my heart goes out to them and hope they find consolation and peace. If anyone you know can make a difference, hope they can do smething to prevent another tragedy. And if just like me you are like me seeing this from the distance, keep hope alive that things will chenge for the better.

Have a great day!

  2. It's been a very sad and horrible time...I don't think it can be one thing to get done, I think it has to be a combination of continuous things. But, something must be done. But, we must let the families grieve and comfort them just now. I hope you have a wonderful day xx

  4. I grew up about 15 minutes away from Newtown, so it was definitely a huge shock that something of this caliber could happen so close to home. My heart just breaks for all those kids and their families

  8. It is heartbreaking. as you know from your nephew, it is such a fun age - so sweet, and yet so full of change and growth. Oh I wish my babies could grow up in more innocent times.

  10. You are right.. The first thing people do is try to blame someone, or something as to why this happens. I believe people need to be vigilant and feel like they aren't being politically incorrect if they feel that someone might be in danger of hurting others. As it stands now, you can't simply arrest or contain someone JUST because of what you think they might do. Often times we find out that the person was deeply disturbed and not taking the medication or receiving the help they needed. So sad..

    On a happier note:

Happy birthday to your sweet nephew!! It is my son's birthday today too!
