R.I.

Today I got confirmation from a friend that we will be spending a few days in Rhode Island which coincides with the peak of the high season over there. I am so excited because I've never been there and I've heard is gorgeous, especially Newport which is the area where I'll be staying.

I am not much into boats but I've heard that going out in a boat along the Rhode Island coast is an amazing thing because there are so many sailboats all over full of people enjoying fresh summer breeze and the gorgeous sunsets... can't wait!

Have you ever been there? Do you have any spots you thing I should go and visit? Do you like sailboat rides?

Have a great day!!!

  5. It truly is gorgeous! We always stay at the Hotel Viking - the kids really love the indoor pool. I am assuming you are going to visit some of the mansions. Don't miss the Breakers or the Astors' Beechwood. Do the Cliff Walk. Definitely visit the Castle Hill Inn for pre-dinner drinks at sunset - absolutely gorgeous. Dinner was a little pricey there, but good. For a fun, simple dinner - it gets busy so go early - I recommend the Brick Alley Pub. There are a lot of little side streets with great shops, and 2 small shopping areas, one near the Wharf (there is an AMAZING chocolate shop there) and one near the Tennis Hall of Fame. Way to much to fit here - but it IS beautiful and you will LOVE it. Don't forget that camera. And while most of the homes won't let you photograph inside they WILL let you take one of the view. The Astor mansion does let you take photos.

  7. Newport is spectacularly gorgeous. I agree with Jaime -- check out the mansions. But also walk around town and explore as much as you can. That town has so much charm.

  8. I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Rhode Island in the summer. So lucky! I feel like it requires a cable knit sweater and a crab feed. Can't wait to see photos!
