The House for the Arts

As I watched over the weekend the disappointing finale of Project Runway I remembered the images I took of Lincoln Center this past summer. It is amazing that the place does not just offer the best shows on the realm of the performing art but has now become the place to see the latest in fashion.

View of the arched facade... do you remember Carrie going to ballet over here with Petrovsky?

I love visiting the grounds whenever I'm in the city and walk around looking at all the people coming in and out of the building looking for a dose of world class arts. For this reason, even though Bryant Park was great, I think Lincoln Center was the perfect place to take over as the new playground for fashion.

Opposite views of the reflecting pool... love the mirror effect on the water!

Just like a great episode from Sex and the City I look forward to one day being able to go and enjoy an opera or ballet or even a musical here adding to it a little bit of Fashion Week to the mix.

Welcoming messages that light up the way to the best shows on earth...

Hope all of you had a great weekend enjoying of a the great times that come with Halloween. What was your alter ego of choice?

Have a great day recovering from the weekend festivities!

  3. I'm so happy I'm not the only one who thought the season finale of Project Runway was disappointing. I was just all "What??!?" My alter ego yesterday was super paper grader. I get to play the same role again today. Sigh. Hope you have a lovely Monday and a gorgeous start to November!

  4. Great pics! I think you're right and Lincoln Center is a great spot for the shows. Especially since some of them really are theater in and of themselves. Have a great week!

  6. I haven't spent any time at Lincoln Center in years, but these photos make me want to visit next time in NY. On another note, I think I'm the only person who was glad Gretchen won Project Runway, but I was shocked (shocked!) it wasn't Mondo.

  9. This was the perfect post to greet my Monday! Oh nostalgia, I lived for several years literally across the street from LIncoln Ctr (and used to work in an office near Bryant Park) - I'm always excited to see Lincoln Ctr, and also happy about the fashion shows moving from one place to the other (even though I loved both venues) - something just magical about Lincoln Center. I also can't wait to go back and visit :) Thank you for the magic & hope your week is off to a great start!

  12. Lovely pictures of Lincoln Center...I've never been there, but I'm so adding this to the list. I didn't really dress up this halloween, but I threw on some bat ears and enjoyed the evening with a great dinner with a friend who was in town =)

  13. Oh, how I adore Lincoln Center! My parents and I took John to see his first professional opera production here a few Christmases ago, and he was so blown away he still talks about it!

  16. These photos make me nostalgic for Lincoln Center--I could so use a trip to NYC. And of course, I was floored by the Project Runway finale. Really?? Poor Mondo!
