The Right Pair

The other day I was talking to a friend about someone we knew that wear jean that very unflattering despite the fact that they are from a very well known brand. We could not help but making it the topic of conversation.

I'm one of those that have no real brand loyalty but I always look for the right color {nice dark wash!} and the right fit no matter the price or brand. The "muffin top" is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to the fit because there is nothing more uncomfortable than feeling that your favorite pair is not allowing circulation to the lower part of your body.... right???

So, like they say "when in doubt... just ask"... and since I have this space I wanted to share with all of you a few links on how to chose the jeans that look best on you no matter what the fashion trends say {not all of us are made to wear super-duper-ultra skinny jeans!}

For the guys {my friend was a guy!}:

Have a great day and have some fun!

  1. This reminds me of my favorite pair of jeans. I found some soft oversized jeans that I loved. Too long, I just rolled the bottoms and wore them everywhere. My daughter came home for her Spring break and quickly let me know, they were awful on me! She took a photo and showed me, yep, very bad. I stopped wearing them but they are still in my closet :)

  2. Love that you are addressing this! It was one of my first pieces as a journalist 6 years ago--jeans, and why they matter + how to get a good fit. You're so right, it's not about super skinny jeans (and personally, unless you're over 6 ft tall and a size 2, not that flattering!)

  5. As above, I buy a couple of same pairs. The trick for me is finding ones that round out the butt, Habitual cords and Ag has some good fits for that

  6. Unfortunately I ADORE Lucky Brand jeans. Too bad they're so darn expensive!

  8. jeans can be the most comfortable and the most uncomfortable things ever! It can put me in the best mood (or the worst) when I find a new pair that fit perfect (when non fit well)!

  9. Ha-you couldn't be more right, a good fit is more important than the label on the tush!

  10. I love a good darkwashed pair of jeans that fit me just right. If they are even a little too tight I wont wear them, but if they are too big they just make me look bigger so I won't wear those either.

  11. I couldn't agree more. Brand name doesn't always mean quality, fit, or even style. You definitely have to try on and by that I mean, dance, jump around, sit, shake, etc...

  12. I agree about the muffin top. It's crazy!

  13. Dark Wash!!! Dark, dark Indigo! I can't have my jeans tight to the point it pushes out a muffin top, but I've seen far to many gals sporting a camel toe!!!

  15. same here! i don't really care what brand my jeans are as long as the fit is right. my favorite jeans are actually from forever21 and i got them for only $6 -- those jeans are the perfect fit and perfect color. :)

  16. you are absolutely right. no brand loyalty. it's all about cut, fit and colour regardless of the brand.

  17. No brand loyalty for me. I hardly ever wear jeans.
But when I do it's hard to find the perfect fit.

  18. I'm glad you included men at the end, because when I think about it, I've seen way too many men with ill-fitting jeans! I hate saggy jeans on guys!

  23. So true about the muffin top. I am so tired of this look with jeans...even denim I've bought and unfortunately taken the tags off. Supposedly American Eagle has great jeans. I have yet to explore but I am loving GAP's 1969 skinnies right now!

  24. ugh. the muffin top is my nemesis ... you're right, it doesn't matter what the brand is, if they don't fit, you're not impressing any one. ;)

  25. That first picture is so lovely. My biggest jean hate is low cut - hate them, gives me a cold tummy! x
