Fully Supported

One of my biggest pet peeves is ill fitting clothes and a bra that does not fit you well not only looks bad but is also bad for you. Over the past few years I find myself having a harder time finding the right fit for me... so I decided for today to give everyone a little guide to find the best "support" that you can find out there.

Did you know that nearly 85% of women are wearing a bra that doesn't fit them well? That is amazing but I have to admit I've been guilty of that at times. One of the most common complaints. The solution is making sure that it doesn't ride up your back and it stays low and leveled across your body.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, there is the problem of spillage. If your cup size is too small then you get too have a sort of division line that shows under your clothes. Some women buy smaller bras because they believe they will help them get more cleavage which can turn out to be uncomfortable and unflattering.

If you're one of those that suffers from gapping {a gap between you and the cup} try going one number down and one cup up... For example: if you are generally a 34A try a 32 either B or C, this way you'll compensate for the change in your regular size.

For a little more info on finding the right size check out this link which will help you measure yourself as well as giving you a few tips... Just remember, the right fit will make everything else look good!

Have a great day!

  3. I think these are great tips. Many women wear the wrong size or type that doesn't suit their shape and it does make the clothes look bad. We really need to get measure, choose types for our shape and wear them better. It will make you feel so much better too. :) xx

  9. I will definitely have to take this into consideration. In August I will be in a wedding where I will need a strapless bra.

I hope you had a great weekend.

  11. A few years ago I went to Le Petit Coquette in NYC to get properly fitted for a bra. I can't tell you what a HUGE difference that made. I discovered that most lingerie stores (coughVictoriasSecretcough) were putting me in the wrong size bra because they didn't carry my size. They'd typically have me go up a band size and down a cup size. But once I got the right size, it was like a choir of angels started singing. Definitely something every woman should do.

  12. I'm totally one of those girls... I really need to go bra shopping. I just hate doing it. I'm so cheap as it is and hate spending money on a piece of clothing that nobody sees! lol

  16. Yay! I was JUST going to blog about this because I'm having major bra issues right now. I want to get fitted properly- the people at VS told me I had a 36 D. I was like, "Nooooooooo. I barely fill a B" haha! They had no clue what they were talking about.

  23. When I was a teenager I worked at a lingerie boutique and it was true most women who came in wore the wrong size bra. It's so important to have proper fitting clothing, intimate apparel as well. Great post!

  24. SUCH good advice! I worked in a high end lingerie boutique, and ninety nine times out of a hundred, women were wearing a bra that was too big in the band and too small in the cup!

  25. I live 5 blocks from the store Intimacy and this is the stat they always quote about women in ill-fitting bras.

  26. I so agree that this is one of the most important things about having a great pulled together look. Once you have the foundation together everything else is easy. Happy Monday Elie!
